Stickley & Brandt Chair Company (American (Binghamton, New York),1891-1919) circa late 19th century. A set of Victorian oak pressback chairs, comprising one armchair and one rocking chair, each with pressbacks with curved edges and arched scroll crests with Baroque foliate strapwork pattern at center flanked by opposing open-mouthed fanged gryphons, joined by curved arms terminating in scroll armrests supported by ring baluster turned spindles on molded seats with serpentine front edges, raised on baluster turned legs joined by conforming baluster stretchers, the rocking chair on runners. Note: Stickley & Brandt Chair Company paper label at underside of rocking chair. Armchair approximate height 38.5", width 25", depth 19", seat to floor 17", rocking chair approximate height 34.25", width 24.75", depth 35", seat to floor 15".
