Federal Walnut Inlaid Hunt Board or Sideboard Table, probably North Carolina, c. 1790-1810, the rectangular top with edge inlaid with stringing and banding above two drawers bordered by stringing with diamond escutcheons and straight string inlaid skirt joining four square tapering legs with cuff inlays, original finish, (replaced brasses, minor surface imperfections, height loss), ht. 30, wd. 58, dp. 20 1/2 in. Provenance: Direct family descent in a family of Southern origins. The line carries names and locations back to George Walton Williams, a prominent merchant and banker in Charleston, South Carolina, whose house still stands at 15 Meeting Street, Charleston, South Carolina.
