Federal Walnut Stand, probably North Carolina, early 19th century, the top overhangs a stand with a single drawer on four square tapering legs, old surface, turned pull may be replaced, (surface mars on the top), ht. 28 3/4, wd. 18 1/2, dp. 21 3/4 in. Provenance: Direct family descent in a family of Southern origins. The line carries names and locations back to George Walton Williams, a prominent merchant and banker in Charleston, South Carolina, whose house still stands at 15 Meeting Street, Charleston, South Carolina.
