China Trade Ivory Calling Card Case, second quarter 19th century, with figures in garden settings edged with a floral border having the initials "SCK" in an oval reserve, contained in a yellow, black, and red silk-covered cardboard box, the lid bearing a paper label inscribed "Luenchun Mother O' Pearl Ivory and Tortoiseshell Carver No. 6 New China Street," the bottom of the box inscribed "SCK," (imperfections to box), 4 1/2 x 3 in. Note: Accompanying lots 207-210 and 213 is information referring to an exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1984, "Philadelphians and the China Trade, 1784-1844," in which several of these items are pictured and cataloged.
