Likely French, first half of 19th century. A set of four wooden panels each with a painted scene cut from one whole painted landscape within brown painted leather frames depicting fashionably dressed Europeans herding cattle or surveying the land within a tropical or exotic landscape comprising palm trees and mountains, some of which depict a distant city, a Western structure most likely a church or monastery, or and a seascape in the background, likely representative of scenes of life in colonized French Indochina. Approximate height 84", width 24", depth 1". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia.
