Attributed to Joseph H. Davis (American, ac. 1832-38) Portrait of Daniel Horn. Unsigned. Watercolor, pen and ink, and graphite on paper. The man portrayed is holding a top hat in one hand and a pair of gloves in the other and is standing on a green and yellow fanciful floorcloth, with calligraphic inscription along the bottom: "Daniel Horn Aged 26 years 1835.," 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. (sight), in a molded wood frame. Condition: Toning, inpainting u.r. N.B. Affixed to the back is a note inscribed "Daniel Horn Born June 10 1809 in Brookfield, N.H. Buried in Springvale cemetary (sic) near pump. His father & mother is buried in a private cemetary (sic). His mother's maiden was Eleanor Chamberlain."
