Woven Straw Wedding Bonnet and a Bandbox, late 18th and mid-19th century, finely woven wide brimmed bonnet with organdy lining, together with a floral wallpaper covered oblong bandbox in shades of red, green, and ecru on a light blue ground, (a couple of small losses on bonnet brim, fading, tears, and small losses on box), bonnet ht. 13 3/4, wd. 11 1/2 in.; box ht. 11 1/4, lg. 17, wd. 12 1/4 in. Provenance: From a northeastern institution. N.B. Quote from a donor letter to the institution: "My great-great-grandmother's wedding bonnet. James C. Dawson and Anna Moore married in Baltimore, Maryland, 1789, and settled in Preston Co. on a farm which was in the family until a few years ago."
