Pair of Puce Transfer Printed and Pink Lustre Pearlware Jugs, England, early 19th century, each having a design inscribed "PEACE PLENTY and INDEPENDENCE," depicting a star and ribbon wreath with names of New York at the top and ten states, surmounted by a large eagle and American flag, flanked by allegorical figures of Peace to the right and Plenty to the left; reverse with the inscription "SUCCESS to the UNITED STATES of AMERICA" on a ribbon within a scrolled cartouche surmounted by an American flag and flanked by an American Indian and eagle, with a foliate geometric device beneath the spout, (imperfections), ht. 7 3/8 in.
