Paul Fiene (German/American, 1899-1949) Stylized Cat Signed "Fiene" l. r., numbered "39/50" on the reverse. Bronze sculpture (posthumous cast), height 7 1/2 in. (19 cm). Condition: Good. N.B. Paul Fiene came to the States from Germany in 1912, and had a studio in Woodstock from 1919 until the 1930s. Fiene's stone carvings and bronzes were exhibited widely. He was particularly know for his animals pieces and the Woodstock Art Association is proud to have his marble penguin on permanent display. This recast of Stylized Cat was commissioned by the Woodstock Art Association and was produced as a limited edition of 50.
