19th century. Group of two unmatched mother of pearl and rolled gold handled magnifying glasses later converted from ladies parasol handles. Large magnifying glass with panels of mother of pearl or abalone band on tapered handle flanked by rolled gold accents decorated with large scrolled foliates over honeycombed pattern on bottom, stars on top. Smaller magnifying glass with similar aesthetic with slightly longer mother of pearl or abalone band flanked by diamond motif on rolled gold. Length of larger magnifying glass 12.5". Length of smaller magnifying glass 11.75". Provenance: From a Private Collection in Rabun Gap, Georgia.
