Woven Blue and White Jacquard Coverlet, probably by Harry Tyler (1801-1858), Jefferson County, New York, c. 1838, cotton and wool double-weave coverlet with combined daisy and star interior with a fruit tree and picket fence border, and lion figures in the corner blocks, woven lettering "JEFFERSON. CO. N.Y." and "SUSAN GREENE 1838," (minor toning), 90 x 79 in. Literature: A similar coverlet woven by Harry Tyler of Jefferson Co. New York is illustrated in the book A Checklist of American Coverlet Weavers, by John W. Heisey, published by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, Virginia, 1978, p.47. The checklist entry for Harry Tyler indicates that the regal lion corner blocks were his first signature trademarks.
