Mochaware Baluster-form Pepper Pot, attributed to Hartley, Greens & Co. , Leeds Pottery, Yorkshire, c. 1790, creamware pepper pot slip-banded in blue and rust with a field of black inlaid slip on white in an engine-turned pattern, (minor chips to the shaker holes on the dome, small repairs to rim overhang), ht. 4 3/4 in. Literature: The engine-turned pattern of this pepper pot is illustrated in The New Teapot Drawing Book, the pattern book of Hartley, Greens & Co., Leeds Pottery, Yorkshire, in the possession of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, c. 1790.
