Set of Six Cordial Glasses from R. M.S. Britannic, England, 1930s, with stylized wave engravings, four with the ship's name on foot, ht. 4 in. Note: This was the third ship with this name, launched by White Star in 1929. Her predecessors were the Blue Ribband holder built in 1874 and the ill-fated Britannic of 1915 (sister-ship to the Titanic which never saw passenger service, having been sunk in World War I). She ran on the North Atlantic route to New York in summer and to the Caribbean in winter, became part of the Cunard-White Star merger in the 30s, saw service as a troop ship during World War II, and the post-War years back on the North Atlantic. She saw service in that way until broken up in 1960.
