Two Pewter Snuff Boxes, Britain, early 19th century, a double-barrel flint-lock pistol-shaped with a hinged opening, wd. 4 3/8, and one with mounted horn, inscribed "DURIE" on interior of hinged lid, wd. 3 in. N.B. Similar examples of each of these boxes appear on pp. 132-133 of Howard Herschell Cotterell's Old Pewter: Its Makers and Marks. Provenance: Proceeds from the sale of the collections will be used by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, Virginia, exclusively for the acquisition of art and antiques to be exhibited in its art museums and historic buildings.
