Four Assembled George III Sterling Silver Candlesticks, London, two 1767-68, with rubbed marks "·C" possibly for William Cripps, two 1772-73, with marks "I·C" possibly for John Carter II, each numbered and with scratch weights to top sconce, removable bobeches with lion passant and rubbed maker's marks, each formed as a Corinthian column with acanthus-capped sconce and stop-fluted stem terminating in a weighted base with gadrooned rim, ht. 12 1/8 in. Provenance: The Estate of Hugh Trumbull Adams, to benefit the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Collections Acquisitions Fund.
