Literature: American Folk Art of the Twentieth Century, by Jay Johnson and William Ketchum, Jr., (Cynthia Parzych Publishing Inc. and Rizzoli, New York 1983), p. 189. A brief history of Marshall is described as well as his process of carving, using over forty different knives, and how his subjects take shape. "His sculpture has been shown in New York City at the Jay Johnson America's Folk Heritage Gallery and Arne Anton's Gallery. Numerous pieces are in private collections."
