Folk Art Carved Wooden Bust of Winston Churchill, Frank Weston Moran (1877-1967), Vermont, third quarter 20th century, the figure wears a bowler hat and bow tie, inscribed "CURCHILL" (sic) and "F. W. MORAN" on the base, (small losses on hat brim), ht. 9 in. Note: Frank Moran was a carpenter and cabinetmaker in Fairfield, Vermont. During the last forty years of his life he lived alone without modern conveniences, electricity, or central heating, and spent his time carving along with other simple pursuits. His carving of Abraham Lincoln is now in the New York State Historical Association at Cooperstown, New York.
