Cased Wooden Model of the Oil Tanker Sheaf Royal Newcastle, 20th century, the ship identified on the bow, flying a British flag, the funnel painted with a sheaf of grain motif, the hull painted black, with wood and metal fittings, total ht. 15 3/8, wd. 46, dp. 14 in. Note: The 'Sheaf Royal', built in 1972, was a 12,348 gross registered tons (c 32,000 Tons Displacement) Oil Tanker, built at J. & L. Thompson, North Sands Shipyard, Sunderland, England. Built for, and owned by, Sir William A. Souter, and placed under his Sheaf Steam Shipping Co. Ltd., and a 'Newcastle' registered ship in 1976. In 1978 it was renamed Benvorlich, then sold to Greece and renamed 'Theanto A.S.' in 1984.
