Marguerite Stuber Pearson (American, 1898-1978) Two Figures Signed "MARGUERITE S. PEARSON" l.l., label from Vose Galleries, Boston, on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 30 x 36 in. (76.2 x 91.4 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, varnish inconsistencies. N.B. Despite being confined to a wheelchair because of polio, Pearson had a very successful artistic career. She worked as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines before she started painting in 1922, under Edward Tarbell. Pearson is best known for her still lifes, interior scenes, and figurative works, which were all reproduced as prints.
