Pulvermacher's Self-Restorable Pocket Chain Battery, comprising two 24-inch linked belts of conducting chain batteries terminating in a clasp and gold and silver "swivel," and two brass conducting cylinders (originally with sponge) with wood handles and hook and ring for attaching each terminal, in fitted case with instructions and advertising pamphlets, wd. 8 1/2 in. For self-administration of continuous or interrupted current, to any part of the body. The chain batteries were intended to be drawn through vinegar, and a glass-cell current breaker (missing) could be inserted between the cylinders to produce an intermittent shock current.
