Continental, 19th century. Tall Neoclassical trumeau mirror with parcel gilt and painted finish on carved elements. Mirror with architectural cornice form top with acanthus leaf and floral frieze above arched niche with egg and dart border with two seated winged sphinxes facing one another with thin urn or torchiere at center, under two leaves. Vertically aligned beveled looking glass within gilt border further contained within leaf tip and rib carved border above medallion work at bottom. Mirror with polychroming in dark green and white with gilt accents throughout. Overall measures approximately 91.75" x 28.5".
