Unusual Reversible Schneck-Pattern Stereoscope, with shaped walnut lensboard, velvet-covered hood, focusing rack, card holder and adjustable pole holding magnifying lens in fleur-de-lis mount, on nickel-plated baluster-form pillar and circular velvet-covered base, ht. 17 in.; and nineteen Keystone views including Japan, New York, Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Note: Patented by Gustave Schneck (Pat. #318, 302) on May 19, 1885, the viewer featured a double rack assembly with adjustment to simultaneously focus the stereo lenses and card holder. Two clips on the back of the lensboard allow the assembly to be reversed for use with the magnifying lens as a photograph viewer.
