Scheier Pottery Bowl and Undertray, New Hampshire, c. 1960, red earthenware with rust-color glazed ground and contrasting light mustard overglaze with sgraffito decorated horses and stylized line decorations, (glaze fleck), bowl dia. 4 1/4, plate 7 1/4 in. Note: Edwin and Mary Scheier (b. 1908, 1910), live in a retirement community in Arizona. They have devoted a lifetime to each other and to the arts. They spent over twenty years in New Hampshire teaching ceramics. For further study please see the Currier Gallery of Art, Manchester, New Hampshire. Widely exhibited at major museums, the Schiers have had a special relationship with the Currier and their staff.
