Federal Mahogany Carved and Maple Tall Post Canopy Bed, probably Massachusetts, c. 1820, the flat canopy frame above the vase and ring turned foot posts with spiral and acanthus leaf carving on molded blocks continuing to vase and ring turned feet joined to simply turned head posts and shaped headboard, original finish, ht. 90, wd. 49, lg. 71 3/4 in. Provenance: This bed is from the Grearson Estate out of Dedham, Massachusetts. The bed formerly belonged to famous Hudson River School artist Alvan Fisher, and descended in his family.
