Varujan Boghosian (American, b. 1926) Watching the Silly World Go By Unsigned, titled on the reverse. Watercolor on paper, 39 x 29 1/2 in. (99 x 74.9 cm), framed. Condition: Good, not examined out of frame. N.B. Varujan Boghosian was born in New Britain, Connecticut, in 1926. The son of an Armenian immigrant, Boghosian served in the Navy during World War II. He entered the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, and studied in Italy on a Fulbright scholarship. When he returned to the United States, he studied at the Yale University School of Art and Architecture under Joseph Albers. Boghosian's works are mainly sculptures and constructions. He creates assemblages out of objects found at flea markets and antique shops. These assemblages give ordinary objects new meaning, and often reflect Boghosian's fascination with nineteenth-century American life. Boghosian has taught at Yale University, Brown University, and Dartmouth College. His works are in the collections of several prominent museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, both in New York City.
