Condition: Craquelure. N.B. Arthur Clifton Goodwin was born in 1864 and was a self-taught artist. Most of his works depict the Boston area, where he lived until 1920. Copley Square, the Public Gardens, and Gloucester Harbor appear frequently in his oil paintings and pastel drawings. In 1920, he moved to New York City. Goodwin used loose, impressionistic brushstrokes, and was also interested in showing the effect of light on pavement, especially after rain or snow. His works are part of the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
