Robert Spear Dunning was one of the co-founders of the Fall River School, which focused mainly on still lifes. Dunning's work was exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the American Art Union, the Boston Art Club, and the Providence Art Club, and is in the collections of numerous museums including the National Museum of American Art.
