Davis, Jefferson (1808-1889), Autograph letter signed, July 24th, 1853, one page, as Secretary of War, to Colonel J. L. Edwards, a letter of introduction for Mr. Andy Noland of Mississippi, in part "He has a claim for revolutionary services of his ancestor and I have referred him to you for counsel and assistance. He was my comrade in arms and I commend him to you," (minor ink smudge).
