Two Chinese Export Porcelain Figures, late 18th or early 19th century, a seated spaniel wearing a green collar with a gilt bell, its coat delineated in iron red; a figure of a man carrying a vase, wearing a purple flowered tunic and maroon trousers, (a couple of very minor chips on dog), ht. 6 3/4, 4 7/8 in. Provenance: Family descent from sea captain Nathaniel Kinsman, of Salem, Massachusetts, who was involved in the China trade; see lot 60. Note: Affixed to the bottom of the dog figure is a note inscribed "Grandmother Dexter born 1799. This dog was a present from her Grandmother Angell it came from Smithfield."
