Carved and Painted Wood Parade Liberty Cap on Pole, America, c. 1825, small carved peaked cap painted dark blue with red border, gilt tassel and stars, supported on original turned wooden pole, (minor wear), ht. 15 in. Note: The Liberty cap was often carried in parades in cities and towns where General Lafayette visited on his twenty-four state tour in 1824-25.
