Four Blue and White Transfer Decorated Staffordshire Plates, England, early 19th century, two by James and Ralph Clews, Cobridge, 1819-36, one depicting the "Landing of "Gen. Lafayette at Castle Garden, New York, 16th August, 1824" with printed title below view and impressed maker's mark on the reverse, the other depicting "Don Quixote and the Shepherdesses," with a six-pointed star border and flowers and birds between the points and printed title on the reverse; and two by Ralph Hall, Tunstall, 1822 to c. 1836, one plate from the "Select Views" series entitled "Plains Hill, Surry," with a wide border of fruit and flowers, printed title and maker's mark on the reverse, the other from the "Picturesque Scenery" series entitled "Llanarth Court, Monmouthshire," with a border of large flowers and printed title on the reverse, (very minor wear), dia. 10 in.
