Silk Needlework Picture, America, 1806, solidly stitched silk threads on a silk ground, depicting a romantic couple holding a flowering vine and wreath, a small dog at the woman's feet, with trees and hills in the background, painted facial features and sky, indistinct inscription l. l. dated 1806, (small losses l.l.), 16 1/2 x 19 1/2 in. (sight), in a molded and gilded frame. Note: A note inscribed in pencil on the back of the frame reads: "Worked by Betsy Coffin Ray while at school in Sutton with her sister Sophia (B.F.'s grandmother) 1806. Boarded at Squire Tenny's."
