American School, 19th Century Portrait of a Man. c. 1830. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, view of a man in a dark blue coat with brass buttons, a buff colored waistcoat, and a stiff white cravat, with his arm over a stencil-decorated chair, 29 1/2 x 24 1/2 in. (sight), in an original giltwood frame. Condition: Unlined, minor patches and craquelure. Note: The canvas reads on the reverse "Prepared by Edward Dechaux New York."
