Camphorwood Chest, China, c. 1830, the brass-bound hinged top includes a central brass plaque inscribed "Kinsman" and opens to an interior fitted with two removable square compartments above a cavity, brass-bound case includes brass carrying handles, original finish, (minor surface imperfections), ht. 17, wd. 36, dp. 19 3/8 in. Provenance: Family descent from sea captain Nathaniel Kinsman, of Salem, Massachusetts who was involved in the China trade, see lot 60.
