American School, fourth quarter 20th century. "Lioness with Sun", pastel and gouache on paper, indistinguishably signed lower right, titled lower center, series title lower left "Beastiary XXXVII". Painting depicts a lioness in the immediate foreground in a reclining position below a full sun above her head at right of page, the cat's body stretching out to left and off of page. Framed approximately 36.5" x 45.5", unframed approximately 29.25" x 38.25".
