William Merritt Chase (American, 1849-1916) , oil on canvas portrait of the artist's daughter, Helen Velasquez Chase, wearing a white dress with a red bow in her hair and holding her doll, signed middle right, retaining its original signed F. W. Harer frame, 20" x 15". Provenance: Chase estate sale, May, 1917, Purchased by L.R. S. , M.A. Newhouse & Son by 1927, thence by descent in the owner's family.
