Jean Lambert-Rucki (French, 1888-1967) The Umbrella Man, c. 1950 Unsigned. Welded iron sculpture, height 41 in. (104 cm). Condition: Wear to surface, minor surface abrasions. N.B. Born in Krakow, Lambert-Rucki move to Paris in 1911 (and became a French citizen in 1932). Shortly after his arrival in Paris he began friendships with the artisits of Montparnasse, including Modigliani and Kisling. In 1920 he met the influencial dealer Leonce Rosenberg, who began offering his works together with those of Picasso and Leger, among others.
