Arthur Clifton Goodwin (American, 1866-1929) Portrait of Rosalee Goodyear Under a Parasol Unsigned, identified on a presentation plaque. Pastel on paper/board, sight size 19 x 10 3/4 in. (48.3 x 27.3 cm), framed. Condition: Unobtrusive pigment displacement near edges, very subtle horizontal abrasion or crease, not examined out of frame. Provenance: From the estate of Rosalee Goodyear. N.B. Rosalee Goodyear was a long-time friend of Goodwin. In her memoirs, Goodyear notes how she modeled for Goodwin several times. This piece was most likely a gift from the artist to Goodyear, which accounts for the piece being unsigned. The lot is accompanied by a copy of a letter from Regina Eliot-Ramsey, author of A.C. Goodwin: Impressionist Cityscapes .
