Chippendale Cherry Oxbow Inlaid Slant-lid Desk, Connecticut, 18th century, the lid with a rosewood and satinwood inlaid oval patera surrounded by rope inlays opens to an interior of small drawers above the central fan-carved drawer flanked by open compartments on a case of drawers, the top one of which is arced; each has a cockbeaded surround and rope inlay in outline flanked by string-inlaid quarter-engaged columns with capitals and bases above the frontal claw and ball feet with scrolled and pierced returns; the rear ogee feet are shaped and on platforms, original brass, refinished, (repair to lid), ht. 45, wd. 41 1/4, dp. 20 in.
