Chippendale Mahogany Carved Oxbow Serpentine Desk, Massachusetts, c. 1780, the lid opens to an interior of a string-inlaid prospect door with three flanking string-inlaid drawers and four valanced compartments above the cockbeaded case of four graduated drawers on turned claw and ball feet, the brasses appear to be original, pencil inscription on lid support reads "Helen J. Lyon/February 17th, 1861/Sunday afternoon", (old refinish, restoration), ht. 46, wd. 32 1/2, dp. 21 in.
