Journal Log Book, "S. S. Booths Book, Baltimore, Maryland, June 1st ..62," recording the voyages of the "U.S. Supply Schooner Guthrie, C.C. Springer, Master," which traveled up and down the east coast of the United States supplying mainly lightships and lighthouses, some entries inscribed with references to the Civil War, such as: "...saw five steamers leave with troops for Norfolk..." and "...could hear large guns to the west...," (losses to binding, wear to cover, toning), 10 1/8 x 7 7/8 in. Note: Lightships were the ships anchored in dangerous waters fitted with strong lights or warning signals.
