Federal Cherry and Bird's-eye Maple Inlaid Chest of Drawers, attributed to Spooner and Fitts, Athol, Massachusetts, 1808-13, the rectangular two-board cherry top with inlaid edge above a case of cockbeaded drawers veneered with bird's-eye maple surrounded by crossbanded mahogany veneer above a cyma-curved skirt with spurs flanking a figured maple diamond outlined in patterned inlay flanked by turned swelled legs ending in small ball feet, original brass, old refinish, (minor imperfections), ht. 41 3/4, case wd. 38 1/2, top wd. 39 1/2, case dp. 18, top dp. 18 1/4 in. Note: Alden Spooner and George Fitts were in cabinetmaking partnership in the center of Athol, Massachusetts, 1808-1813.
