Western Pictorial Coiled Basketry Bowl, Washo (? ), the flat-bottom high-shouldered form with a minute neck, tightly woven vertical black panels with zigzag and track devices alternating with natural color panels which include quadrupeds with tails pointing up or down, whirling logs, roosters, and one human figure, the selvage finished with a tight herringbone weave, ht. 5 1/2, dia. 12 1/4 in. Provenance: Property of Wesleyan University. Reference: Park-Bernet, New York, The Green Collection, November 1971, item 123, probably made by the same woman and called Washo.
