Anglo-American School, 18th Century Arms of Gardiner. Initialed and dated "L.P.H. PINX 1766," l.l. Oil and gilt on canvas with lower inscriptions reading "Sable a Chevron Ermine, two h(eads) OF Griffons, a cross or was the Bearing of Richard Gardner, D.D. Christ Church," 9 3/4 x 8 in., in a period gilt gesso and black painted frame. Condition: Craquelure, paint losses l.l., 1766 inscription painted over older inscription.
