Polychrome Painted Tin Tray, America, early 19th century, oblong tray with scalloped edge, centered with a scene of a three masted ship, possibly the U. S. frigate Independence, in coastal waters, enclosed by gilt stenciled leaf and scroll borders on a black ground, accompanied by metal hanging rack, (imperfections), 24 x 29 5/8 in. Note: This image looks similar to an 1841 Nathaniel Currier lithograph of the U.S. frigate Independence. A photocopy of this lithograph is included with the tray.
