Pewter Quart Mug, Boston, Massachusetts, last half 18th century, tapered cylindrical form with everted rim, molded band, scrolled strap handle with shell-like thumb grip, molded base, marked "CM" "S" and "CS" around rim, ht. 6 1/4 in. Note: A comment on this mug by John Carl Thomas: "Pewter quart strap handle mug-Boston moulding, not marked by maker, but struck "CM" and "CS" for Commonwealth of Massachusetts and County of Suffolk, indicating use in the Boston area as a "sealed" measure, last half 18th century."
