Pewter Porringer, Richard Lee or Richard Lee Jr. Springfield, Vermont or unknown maker, late 18th century, round basin form with boss bottom, openwork handle with crescents and hearts, raised reversed "R" mark on handle back, dia. 3 1/4 in. Note: This porringer handle is similar to one illustrated in Pewter in America: Its Makers and Their Marks, by Ledlie Laughlin, Barre Publishers, Barre, Massachusetts, 1969, plate XIII, fig. 66. The maker is identified as Richard Lee or Richard Lee Jr. Some experts believe this belly bowl form was not like any made by the Lees.
