American School, 19th Century Pair of Hollowcut Portrait Silhouettes. Unsigned, with indistinct penciled inscriptions on the reverse of frame "Dudley, Oct. - 1835." Watercolor, pen and ink, and gouache and silk on paper, showing half-length portraits of a woman wearing a comb in her upswept hair and a black dress with ruffled collar set off with a blue ribbon, and a man with a blue vest and black jacket holding a red book, black silk backing, 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 in., in an embossed brass and wood frame. Condition: Toning.
