(Revolutionary War), D'Estaing, Charles Henri le Comte, Extrait du Journal d'un Officier de la Marine , [Paris], 1782, with portrait frontispiece, tree calf, 8vo, (minor defects). Note: The author whose name is unknown was part of D'Estaing's Squadron sent to help the American Republic in 1778. An interesting account of the meeting of the French fleet with the English under Lord Howe, near Newport. When a storm forced D'Estaing to go to Boston for repairs, it forced American General Sullivan to evacuate Rhode Island.
