A pair of monumental ebonized wood statues carved in the round depicting stylized male and female African fertility icons, the female figure presented squarely at full length on two legs bent at the knee, her stomach and back with squared areas of cross hatched relief decoration, the figure having bulbous, conical shaped full breasts under which she cradles a small baby in her joined hands, her elongated face with long, wide nose under almond shaped eyes, her hair formed into three equal tied off portions, one beside each ear and one to her back; the male figure presented squarely at full length on two legs bent at the knee, her stomach and back with squared areas of cross hatched relief decoration, with downturned bulbous phallus between his thighs below a protruding belly button, his right arm bent at the elbow and holding a knife or blade, his left arm slightly bent with hollow hand (likely meant to hold a missing spear), his face with sculptural beard below thick lips, an incised moustache, and almond shaped eyes, his hair gathered behind his head under a helmet. Female statue overall approximately 81" tall, 20.5" wide, 14" deep. Male statue overall approximately 85" tall, 20.5" wide, 16" deep.
